Naturally, when caring for your vehicle carrying the top brand BMW, you must use original spare parts, which are unlikely to be cheap. However, you can be sure that they will have a positive impact on your car to at least carry its brand, and reach you with the required degree of quality.

Old Car Recycling Salvage Yard

07/01/2013

Perhaps many of you do not know what to do with your old, running cars. Perhaps you have bought something new, or your old car breaks down too often and is past it's sell-by date, or it may have been in an accident.

Well, you can choose what to do you and you have many options, all depending on your your personal choice and your budget. You can either rebuild your car, sell it as-is to a new owner, or you could sell it to a scrapyard.

If you think your car is unique and you want to keep it, you can, as ultimately it could sell at a higher price as a vintage car. If your decision is to sell it as-is , the buyer will sign an invoice stating as such, which you then need to take to the relevant authorities to de-register your car from your name so that you will not be liable for future licensing fees. If your choose, the buyer can also take care of this, but it will be in your best interest to do this yourself to make absolutely sure it has been done correctly.

You should be aware that, under these circumstances, you may have many quarrels with the removal of your car from the registers because bureaucracy in South Africa is very far from that of other countries.

If you decide to send your car to a scrap yard you may get more money for it. The price will vary mostly depending on the condition of the car – where it was hit if in an accident, that there are many problems if it is burned, what is the condition of its parts and so forth.

Whatever your decision is, in any event, you will get some money for your old car. This is where being South African is a benefit, because if, for example, you were in Germany, you would have to pay to take your car to a scrapyard, but you do not.

It is unfortunate that South Africa has no adopted recycling strategies for old vehicles as they do in the United States or Europe, so recycling your old vehicle is not much of an option for you. It is a pity, as the environment in suffers as a result with many old vehicle skeleton littering the roadside.

Is it safe to drive with Check Engine Lights on

14/09/2012

It really depends on what the problem is, what caused the "Check Engine" lamp to light up.

It could be something minor, but it can also be something more serious, which should be taken care of as soon as you bring your car into the garage. In the most severe of cases driving with a "Check Engine" lamp can cause more damage to the vehicle.

One of the common causes is ,due to bad air mass meter, vacuum or some other reason, the air and fuel mixture entering the engine to change the parameters, or simply entering into the system too much air and too little fuel. In this case, the engine computer tries to compensate by adding more fuel, but it can only be done within a certain limit.

If the engine computer can no longer compensate for this condition, it becomes a check engine light and stores the appropriate code in its memory. Usually, every code stored in the computer such as the Ford P0171 indicates that the system in the first cylinder is too lean, which means that there is a shortage of fuel or code P0174, which indicates that the system is too lean in the second cylinder. If dealt with this time, the problem can be solved with a simple repair and major problems can be avoided.

This lean mixture of air and fuel can cause pre-ignition or detonation and it can lead to serious problems and damage to the engine. If your light "check engine" light comes on while driving, we at Team findspares.co.za certainly recommend you take your car to the nearest possible workshop for diagnosis and problem solving. If the "Check Engine" indicator, it means that the engine computer (ECM) has determined that there is an incorrect starting condition. Driving with an improper ignition engine can damage your catalytic converter (catalyst), which is a very expensive part. Often incorrect ignition engine can be caused by bad plugs or plug leads. If you recently changed spark plugs and/or spark plug leads on the engine, it might be a good idea to check them at this point as a start.

How to clean car interiors

14/09/2012

Cleaning the interior of the car not only looks good but is also better for the health of you and your passengers. With proper care inside, each car can look great. Careful cleaning of the entire interior of the car takes about one hour. Be careful with the use of water inside the car. If water gets into the electrical components, this can lead to problems. Also, do not soak the seats too much and do not allow water to get under the carpet as it can cause corrosion, stains, bad odor, moisture and mildew. Make sure  to dry the vehicle interior after cleaning

Vacuuming the car

Remove the floor mats. Vacuum the seats and carpet. Use the correct connections of the vacuum cleaner to reach tight areas of the car interior, under the seats, around the pedals and the space between the front seats and center console. Use a soft brush nozzle for sucking dust from the dashboard, center console and doors. Be careful not to damage the knobs, crevices and protrusions, so decrease suction pressure of the vacuum cleaner. Use the same setting  with a soft brush to lightly suck dust from hard to reach places on the leather seats. Leather seats can easily be damaged, so be careful.

Cleaning  upholstery fabric seats and the upholstery fabric  of doors

Let us see how to clean dirty stains from upholstery fabric seats. There is a lot to cleaning upholstery. Almost any special ingredients for this activity should have a good cleaning power. The first step is to spray or apply the cleaner evenly on the seat upholstery. To clean the fabric seat of the car, rub vigorously. Once the dirty stains disappear, wipe thoroughly with a soft cloth.

If you do not have special upholstery cleaner , ordinary detergent will do. Mix a small amount of detergent in warm water. Dip a clean cloth in the liquid. Wring the cloth until it is damp and not dripping liquid. Rub darker stains but be careful not to damage the car's upholstery. When finished, wipe it  with a clean, soft, dry cloth.

Cleaning leather interiors

Leather used in the interior of the car is very delicate, so it is best to use good products, products that are specifically designed to clean cars with leather seats. Some auto cleaning products make skin look shiny or oily. Other products can make your skin sticky, so before using the product, test it on a small area to see if you like it. Do not use paper towels or napkins to clean the leather, as they can cause scratches. Instead use a soft, clean cotton cloth.

Cleaning leather steering wheel

Be careful with leather steering wheel and gear shift knob. We recommend that you do not use any chemicals to clean the leather  when it comes to cleaning the steering wheel and gear lever. Simply use a clean, slightly damp cotton cloth. If you use any chemicals for leather on the steering wheel, make sure it is not slippery before driving.

Cleaning leather seats

As mentioned a little earlier, use a soft brush nozzle on the vacuum cleaner  to clear the leather seats of dust. Clean carefully because the leather can easily be scratched or damaged. Then spray some leather cleaner wipe with a cotton cloth. Wipe seat reaching into cracks and ends. Then apply a balm for skin sealant that prevents dust build up on the leather seats.

The alternative to the expensive auto parts second hand

13/09/2012

In South Africa, the cars have an average life span of 18 years. This means that the majority of drivers have older vehicles that require more maintenance and need more repairs. Although the value of older cars is lower than the new,  they break down more often which certainly has an impact on the financial position of all owners of these older models. Regardless of how old your car is, it will need replacement parts. Second hand car parts are preferred by most people because they are readily available and affordable.

Their prices in many cases may be so low that they are 80% cheaper than new as sold by official importers. Every day we add new cars to parts of EU members, mostly from the UK. Their cars are cheap because they are right-hand drive, which makes them very difficult to sell. These automobile parts are imported mostly from there because most parts are for other cars are left hand drive.

This is very advantageous for consumers who can find many cheap parts for their cars. In a country like Britain, the damage to the vehicles is estimated much higher, due to the expensive cost of labor in the workshop. Very often, even slightly damaged cars are measured as total damage and are sold at auctions. At these auctions has a very strong national presence.

Constantly importing cars from there dismantled and sold in parts, selecting only those that are healthy and maintained. This trade is much practiced globally is very popular. Even this is encouraged because this saves the production of new parts until they are spent in the old limit. This can be even used as accident damaged cars.

There are sites findspares.co.za that request search and quotes of used and second hand parts in SA also now available. You can run a query for the chosen area and to verify her many auto that are in different locations. This will save time, you have a better chance to find the needed part, and besides, you can select the most advantageous price for you.

Hidden issues for gas installations

13/09/2012

Liquefied petroleum gas is a notorious symbol of the lower switching costs per kilometer by car. This is mounted gas drive system and now much cheaper. In this article I will try to explain in brief the hidden costs, because each salesperson trying to sell your product, hiding the truth from the buyer.

One of the essential things to know the consumer is that why LPG is used in the car. Therefore, by my rough if you drive a car under 10,000 KM, placing the system it does not make sense. This goes for big bikes that spend more than 15 liters per 100 kilometers.

How long will you use the car? No one drives cars 20 years, an average change of about 3-4 years. How far will come together for this period?

At what distance driving cars with CNG systems? Modern cars can ever be herded gas - as always keep going on gasoline and heated only when you pass gas. Because, if you drive a lot, but for short distances, saving is not particularly large space in the trunk.

As for the space vehicle and the gas system, once said, "We put in place the spare tire", but where it goes? Became, normal summer gas system to take the place of the spare tire, which is home to the terrace to have space for luggage. What if a flat tire? Is not it more appropriate to buy a small bottle, which more often to charge?

Cost of use. All gas appliances need maintenance, even those with gas injection. It is not only the initial investment. Evaporator and the filters are damaged her quite often, even if not in use, because they have very sensitive membranes. This increases the cost. We looked at a few aspects that need to pay attention to make the right decision. This way you can be green and economical.

Automatic or Manual Gearbox

12/09/2012

Automatic transmission is more convenient because it does the shifting for you and you only have two pedals and no clutch to deal with whilst driving. If you run your car in town, or travel in traffic with frequent stops and go, automatic transmission is the better choice because it is exhausting to manually change gears every few seconds.

Driving with automatic transmission is easy when you have to stop on steep hills. Some of the newer cars with a manual transmission have a feature to help pulling off on a hill. However, the automatic transmission is a more complex machine than a manual gearbox. In recent years the reliability of automatic gearboxes has improved considerably, thereby decreasing frequent repairs and expensive maintenance, but manual transmission is simple and still tends to be more reliable and durable.

Cars with manual transmissions are usually more expensive and provide better acceleration. Manual transmission lets you feel the car better and driving pleasure is greater. It might interest you to know that many, but not all, models with manual gearbox transmission offer better fuel economy. Manual transmission gives you more control over the gear shift, so if you want to drive in a more efficient manner.

When comparing two identical model cars with the same engine, one of which has a manual transmission and the other automatic, and they move along a highway or just travle for a long time, the difference in fuel consumption per hundred kilometers can be an about one litre in the car with manual transmission. Manual may seem to challenge for novice drivers, but it really is not that much difficult to learn to deal with it.

Over time, it leads to habits and later should not be a problem for anyone. Once you learn to love it. The down side, the choice of cars with manual transmission is limited on certain brands and makes of vehicle. In addition, as we mentioned earlier, the manual transmission has a clutch which at a certain time and mileage has to be serviced and/or renewed.

Piston rings valve seals bushings and other parts

11/09/2012

Some, but not all, engine  pistons can be replaced if worn.  The pistons are subjected to constant movement while driving, at a temperature of over 2000oC. Therefore, they can degrade and wear out over long periods of use. Replacing old pistons must be made with just the right part for the specific vehicle.

Piston rings, also called seals, are usually in groups of three. Their role in the car's engine to form an airtight seal between the all piston itself and the piston chamber, or cylinder. Piston rings (forks seals) are vital for the proper operation of the engine in conjunction with engine oil, fuel mixture and combustion process inside. Because of the extreme conditions in which they operate, piston ring  engines can be partially or totally damaged or worn.

You also need to replace the piston rings if you replace the pistons of the engine. If you are searching for repair kits for the cylinder head, you've come to the largest and most secure site for auto parts, where you can request, at low prices, thousands of parts and components for your engine.

Water pumps for commercial vehicles and heavy trucks

10/09/2012

Water pumps in motor vehicles are a very important part that helps the engine to operate at the required temperature. Car engines and truck engines create high temperatures caused by the burning of fuel in the cylinders, and the cooling system is not working properly can cause serious damage to the engine. The water pump is located at the front or side of the engine behind the radiator fan.

The function of the water pump for cars and trucks is to pump water from the engine to the radiator to regulate the temperature of the coolant. Centrifugal force caused by the water pump sends water or antifreeze in the engine block and the cylinder heads before it goes back into the radiator. If you notice that there is a leak or loss of coolant and, as a result, overheating the engine, immediately visit a radiator specialist to correct the problem.

In such reported problems where the water pump is not functioning correctly and the engine overheats, it becomes important to replace the water pump because engine failure may not be repairable. Note that the water pump is a consumable for your vehicle and life is not eternal.

As service intervals, when checking engine oil, pay attention and watch for any gasket leaks from the water pump or other parts of the cooling system. Never underestimate the seals, especially, when it comes to the water pump gasket. Water pump seals are essential to seal the cooling system of your engine allowing it to run efficiently.

Proper control of the operating temperature of the internal combustion engine is necessary to maintain its good condition over the years of operation. If the water pump gasket leaks note that the cooling system has been compromised and it is time to replace it with a new one.

In findspares.co.za you will find water pumps, gaskets, pipes, etc, for each make and model of car, truck, SUV, agricultural machine or motor. You can source them all at affordable prices.
