Peugeot 307 2001 2008

12/12/2011

The Peugeot 307 is a car that was produced between 2001 and 2008. It is available as a hatchback, sedan and wagon. Several types of engines were developed for the model 307 Peugeot, but some of them were suspended during the design process. The best of the engines available for this car is the 2.0-liter gasoline engine with 141 horsepower and 1.6-liter HDi engine powered by 110 horsepower, if you prefer diesel.

There's a large range of bodies in the Peugeot 307. A five-door hatchback is the principal model, but the station wagon, introduced in 2003, is selling well for its market segment, indeed with a move away from large SUVs wagons such as the 307 are polling well in buyer interest. The styling of the Peugeot 307 wagon is even stronger in the metal than in photographs. Yet it’s not all show and no go, because the rear end gives the load area the sort of practicality much loved by Aussie station wagon lovers. A coupe-cabriolet version, the Peugeot 307 CC, has been offered since February 2004. Peugeot pioneered this roof concept way back in the 1930s and has continued to improve the fascinating engineering theme with each new model. Peugeot has consistently maintained a stronger presence in Australia than any other importer of affordable European cars. This has led to good resale values as well as a well-organised dealer network. We haven’t heard of complaints about the cost of servicing or spare parts. Even unusual parts generally seem to be delivered within a day or so of being ordered. The Peugeot 307 is a reasonably simple car in its mechanical layout. However it’s not really a car on which the amateur mechanic should attempt major repairs. Routine servicing can be done by the owner; it’s always wise for them to have a workshop manual before opening the bonnet. Insurance costs are about average for an imported car in this class. That is, higher than for home-grown cars, but not too much overall.

The trunk is a medium size, but can be expanded by folding down the back seats. All Peugeot 307 cars are well equipped, and come with a fully adjustable seat and steering wheel. Power steering, remote central locking and front electric windows come as standard. Six airbags, ABS, EBD, and the emergency brakes are standard on all models.

The Peugeot 307 is well made car, stylish, and comes with an extremely high level of standard safety equipment too.

Peugeot 207

14/11/2011

The Peugeot 207 has been in production since 2006, and replaced the older 206 Peugeot model. The engines are different versions with different power, so choose appropriately for the car and experience you want. One of the most suitable engine for this car is a 1.4-liter engine with 90 horsepower, but if you need something stronger, try one of the diesels.

The basic 1.4-litre eight-valve petrol powerplant is gutless, making the natural choice (and inevitable best-seller) the 1.4-litre, 94bhp, 102lb ft 16-valve motor. Above that, Peugeot’s 118bhp 1.6-litre petrol, co-developed with BMW, looks appealing until you realize that it inflates the 207’s price to almost warm hatchback levels.

While there are also estate and coupe-cabriolet versions of the 207, and spring 2007 brought an interesting addition to the range and shape of the ‘GTi’ model. The 207 GTi largely shared its styling with the regular three-door ‘Sport’ 207 hatchback, and under the skin, changes were pretty minimal as well. The body was no different from that of other 207s, while the front and rear tracks were slightly narrower by dint of wider wheels. But the springs and damper rates were different, as were other suspension components. And the car’s engine, developed jointly with BMW, was a 1.6-litre turbo with a relatively high specific output, that would spread far and wide across PSA’s new cars. In the GTi, it developed 173bhp and 180lb ft of torque.

The small hatch class had something of a reawakening in the 207’s launch year. The Fiat Grande Punto, Toyota Yaris, and Renault Clio were all renewed, and each one deserved to be taken seriously, offering much more competitive propositions to the marketplace than their predecessors ever did. That left the 207 with a much more attritional existence, and a tougher fight for success, than its designers would have expected two years before launch, when its design must have been signed-off.

The 207 sits on an evolved version of the platform that started its life in the Citroen C3, and because of that relationship it comes with the usual range of petrol and diesel motors. While its looks are modern, there isn’t an unconventional bone in its body. Even the 206 went faintly against the grain with its use of trailing arm rear suspension, but now its successor is back in line with the torsion beam configuration used by almost everyone else.

The surfaces of the interior are good-looking, soft to the touch, smooth and without sharp edges. Side curtain airbags are just an option in some of the models. Stability control is part of the standard specification only GT, but can always be ordered separately for other models of the Peugeot 207. Still, if you've liked this model of Peugeot, you're headed in the right direction.
