Volkswagen Golf models from 1974 to date

13/03/2012

The Volkswagen Golf is a small car for family use, which has been manufactured by Volkswagen since 1974 and marketed worldwide in six generations, in various body configurations, and under various modifications. The Volkswagen Golf is a front wheel drive car that replaced the very successful Volkswagen Beetle, which was air-cooled instead of radiator cooled.

Historically, Golf is the best-selling model for Volkswagen and the third best-selling model in the world. The majority of the production of the Golf was initially in the 3-door hatchback style, and other variants include a 5-door hatchback variant from 1993, convertible coupe and convertible from 1979 to 2002, and a sedan called the Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Vento, or Volkswagen Bora in 1979.

One of the most popular models of the Volkswagen's Golf is the 1 Cabriolet, which continues to pound away on the road, even after so many years. The cars have filled many market segments, from basic personal cars to high-performance hot hatches. Every generation of Golf is second in the European automotive annual awards, but only one was victorious, the Golf MK3 in 1992.

The brand is also famous for its sports versions. The sports model Golf 3 GTI  is one of the most popular powerful cars in it's class. The 3.2-litre, 6-cylinder engine with 240 horsepower came in 1997 when the VW Golf 4 was introduced. The most common and preferred engines offered in modifications of the Golf are 1.4, 1.6, 1.8 pertrol engines and the 1.9-litre diesel engines.

The best part about the 1.9 litre diesel engine is that it is one of the most successful and durable engines ever produced by Volkswagen. The latest model of the Golf, which is produced as today's Golf 6, uses many new technologies to improve the comfort and safety of occupants. Golf owners can now easily find and buy new and second hand spare parts for their Golf, regardless of what generation vehicle.

Volkswagen Cross Coupe TDI Concept 2012

06/03/2012

Research regardless of the field always aim to find solutions that lead the way to the future. In December 2011 the automotive future is indicated by the Cross Coupe - concept car brand Volkswagen. This new vehicle is a valuable fuel consumption of only 2.7 l/100 km, equivalent to 62 g / km CO2. Illustrated technical approach applied in SUV car can be extremely fuel efficient, although high performance system for all-wheel drive.

This latest hybrid concept is powered by two electric motors and turbo petrol engine with direct fuel injection, which when combined give a fuel economy of nearly 1.8 l/100 km. This is equivalent to CO2 emissions of only 46 g/km.

The power that drives 1.858 kg is 302 horsepower. Within the MQB, there are certain design parameters that are standardized across the model series and brand, the distance between the throttle and the front wheel axle and mounting position for all drivers. There are also variable parameters which make it possible to optimally tailor a wide variety of models. These include parameters such as wheelbase, track width and wheel size, for example.

Volkswagen says the new Cross Coupe TDI Plug-In Hybrid Concept will be able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds, 0.5 ticks faster than its gas/electric predecessor. It returns a spectacular 157-mpg rating on the New European Driving Cycle and can travel up to 28 miles on pure electric power, reaching top speeds of 75 mph. With its 14.5-gallon fuel tank, it also has a total theoretical range of 800 miles. As you'd expect, the Cross Coupe is capable of functioning in a variety of modes, from pure TDI where it operates as a conventional front-drive package to pure EV where it uses only the aft motor to drive the rear wheels. The controller unit in this super-efficient VW can instantly switch the engine off or couple/decouple the motors to increase efficiency. It also features a "Boost" mode that engages all three power units for maximum performance as well as an all-wheel drive "Off-road" mode in which the front motor draws its energy from the TDI engine and simultaneously serves as a generator to provide electric power to the rear motor.

In pure electric driving mode, the E-motors are supplied with energy from the lithium-ion battery, which consists of eight individual packs. The battery has an energy capacity of 9.8 kWh, and is located in the center of the car. Power electronics that operate at a voltage of about 370 volts are integrated in the front engine compartment, managing the flow of energy from the high-voltage battery and electric motors. Meanwhile, 12 volt power is supplied to the electrical system via a DC power converter located in the center console.

The battery can be charged by a standard external power supply with a 230 volt connection, or by using the brake assist in conjunction with the gas engine.  The driver can manually switch to charging mode by pressing a key lever to shift gears, which then charges the battery through the TDI engine while driving. The driver can choose between different driving modes: City (eco-mode with minimal fuel consumption), Sport (high and performance), OFFROAD (continuous all-wheel drive), E-mode (pure electric driving mode) or EV-EV-Sport. VW Cross Coupe is equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels, and 265/45 R20 tires.

Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet 2013

05/03/2012

Volkswagen introduced the new Golf Cabriolet at the 2011 Geneva International Motor Show. Now, a year later at the same place, the top version of the bestseller makes its worldwide debut: the first GTI Cabriolet in the history of Golf! A four-seater GTI with 208 horsepower, making it the most powerful Golf Cabriolet ever. GTI not only means more power, but also sporty exterior, interior and precisely tuned chassis.

The first models of the Golf GTI Cabriolet will be delivered officially this summer. At launch, customers can choose between a 6-speed manual gearbox or 6-speed DSG dual clutch gearbox. Both transmissions send power to a turbo petrol engine with direct injection off the front axle. At 1700 rpm, the engine develops a maximum torque of 280 Nm, which remains constant up to 5,300 rpm - its torque curve is ideally plateaued.

To convert engine power into an incredible driving force, the convertible is equipped not only with electronic differential lock (EDS) in their system, the GTI Cabriolet also has XDS transverse differential lock as standard. Even at full acceleration on bends, the system XDS - is also integrated in the ESP - providing optimum traction and stability when driving. Golf GTI Cabriolet accelerates to 100 km / h within 7.3 seconds in both versions of the gearbox.

The maximum speed models is 237 km / h and 235 km / h for DSG. This contrasts with a combined fuel consumption of just 7.6 liters per 100 km, equating to CO2 emissions of 177 g / km (7.7 liters per 100 km and 180 g / km CO2 for DSG). An even better argument for the GTI among convertibles is that the 2.0-liter sixteen-valve, four-cylinder engine is ideal because of its high torque. Even while driving at high speed with low gear, Golf GTI Cabriolet still reserve torque for acceleration.

The GTI front bumper with larger air intake screen fitted on her typical vertically stacked fog lamps. The car has a new rear diffuser and chrome tailpipes on the left and right hand under the rear bumper. Like the GTI a permanent hardtop, this GTI also has a dark-red LED tail lights, LED number plate lights and extensions of thresholds. Classic GTI wheels are standard with 17-inch alloy wheels with tires mounted on them 225/45 R17.

18-inch alloy wheels for can be ordered optionally for the Golf GTI Cabriolet - known as the "Detroit", with a tire size of 225/40 R18. The front sports seats are upholstered in a classic plaid "Jackie" and leather seats "Vienna" are available as an option. The car has a stainless steel pedals and unique polo GTI gearshift lever in aluminum.

All these features are typical GTI. The decorative trim on the doors of perfect specific accents. Sliding roof is hydraulically controlled electronically and takes only 9.5 seconds to open and 11 seconds to close. Opening the roof is possible while driving at speeds up to 30 km / h. Golf GTI Cabriolet also displays the highest quality and safety attributes.

Volkswagen Up 4 door 2013

25/01/2012

All signs point to a big future for small cars! Now Volkswagen is raising the bar by presenting a new version of their classic sedan with four doors, and a compact yet comfortable package. Volkswagen will launch the “Up” into the European market in early summer, and they expect that more than half of buyers will choose the four-door version from the get-go. This version has identical engines powered by a 44 kW / 60 hp and 55 kW / 75 PS.

Volkswagen Up With four doors, the look of the car's side profile has changed. While the lower window line version of the two-door rises towards the rear near the speakers, the new edition will form a straight line from front to back. The boot has a capacity of 251 litres cargo of space, which can be increased to 951 litres by folding down the rear seats.

The rear door of the Volkswagen Up opens up wide and offers comfortable seating for events. The four seater offers the same interior space as the two-door model, which is remarkable given the size of the vehicle overall. Legroom in the rear is enough that 3 passengers can be accommodated comfortably.

There is plenty of space under the front seats for the rear passengers feet too. Volkswagen offers the same options in both models (two-door and four-door). This is the first car in its class that can automatically apply the brakes in a dangerous situation.

Also available in these models are portable navigation, and an infotainment system with a touch-screen. You could say that the Volkswagen Up, with two or four doors, is apparently one of the most advanced small cars on the market.

11/01/2012

Over the past four decades, Volkswagen have produced over 15 million vehicles under the Passat moniker. With it's favorable qualities, these cars have achieved success and are sold on every continent in the world. Now Volkswagen has expanded it's line of models with this special new car: Volkswagen Passat Alltrek.

This new version comes in a wagon configuration that will combine elements of the conventional Passat estate, vans brand Volkswagen, as well as the Tiguan model. This car is ideal for drivers who want to use their car as a towing vehicle or off-road vehicle and want a versatile, sporty and very roomy passenger car that is healthy and of high quality.

Volkswagen developed the VW Passat Alltrack with this clientele in mind. The Passat Alltrack is made with a high angle transmission and has high ground clearance for off-road driving. It is an excellent SUV alternative for driving on unpaved roads.

The car will be available with the choice of one of two petrol engines, 160 horsepower or 210 horsepower. Both engines will be turbocharged with direct fuel injection (TSI). For fans of diesel engines, the car will also be made available with turbo diesel engines (TDI), which will also be direct injection. Diesel engines provide the option of a 140 horsepower or a 170 horsepower engine.

The two most powerful versions of the Alltrack, the TDI with 170 horsepower and the TSI with 210 horsepower, will have standard all-wheel drive 4MOTION and dual clutch transmission (DSG). The VX Passat Alltrack TDI with 140 horsepower will offer all-wheel drive as an optional extra.

The efficient engines of the VX Passat Alltrack work intelligently with the 4MOTION system. The TDI 140 horsepower features low fuel consumption, burning 5.7 liters per 100 kilometers, while the 170 horsepower version consumes 5.8 liters per 100 kilometers. The Volkswagen Passat Alltrack debuted at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2011. The new Alltrack is set to launch in 2012.

Volkswagen Golf V 2003 to 2008

07/12/2011

The Volkswagen Golf V has been in production since 2003. One of the best choices in the lineup is the 1.6-liter FSI direct injection engine with115 hp, and a 2.0-liter turbo diesel powered 150 horsepower. This engine boasts exceptional fuel economy for the capacity and speed of acceleration that it offers, although it can be a bit noisy if driven over the red line.

The strongest performer Volkswagen Golf V's 2.0-liter GTI, delivering 200 horsepower, which continues the tradition of model Golf. Handling is sharp. The car is stable at high speeds and easily controlled, servo amplifier, unfortunately, does not give enough feedback to the driver at higher speeds. Ride is a little firm in the city, the reliability of the suspension is better than comfort.

This is a common feature of all models VW Golf. VW Golf has a very good resale value because of its popularity. Engines and other mechanical parts, VW is known for its reliability, practicality and low maintenance costs. All VW's diesel engines are not the quietest when working on high speed.

2.0-liter petrol Golf is relatively quiet, but it can not be said for the 1.6-liter engine when it comes accelerator. Overall isolation from unwanted sound is good for VW Golf V and you will not hear much noise from wind or road. Volkswagen Golf V sets new standards for construction and quality. Goilf fifth series has everything you are used to seeing in previous models.

Most of the controls and switches work smoothly, but manual shifting may slightly disappoint. Larger size of the new model compared to Volkswagen Golf IV offers more interior space. The location of the driver is convenient because you can adjust both the seat and steering wheel.

Unfortunately one of the drawbacks remain wide windscreen pillars create blind spots (dead spots and areas) as in previous models of Golf. Rear passengers benefit from more space, enough for three people. Trunk in the new Golf model is even bigger. Every VW Golf V comes with six airbags, ABS and stability control.

There are also front active headrests to minimize whiplash in the event of an accident or incident occurred. Parking sensors and remote locking come as standard on models SE, as those in the upper class of equipment is available and alarm. In the base model includes front electric windows and mirrors, and CD player. Cars with equipment class S are available with air conditioning.

SE has alloy wheels, cruise control, automatic lights and wipers and electric rear windows in addition. It is worth mentioning that such aid, automatic lights and wipers are usually available only on higher-grade and larger cars. GT trim comes with fog lights (halogen) and sports suspension. Overall, the new VW Golf is a brilliant car. Production of the VW Golf is still ongoing.

Volkswagen Polo 2001 2005

17/11/2011

This model Volkswagen Polo began production in 2001, although sales did not begin until early 2002. The Volkswagen Polo is available in a 3 or 5-door (hatchback) option, and even a sedan with four doors. The base engine is a 1.2 petrol that only delivers 64 horsepower.

There is an engine with 75 horsepower, 1.4 turbo diesel and three 1.4-liter petrol engines, all of which are agile and economical to boot. The Volkswagen Polo is also available with a 1.9 turbo diesel engine with 101 horsepower and 130 respectively. The car rides well on most surfaces, but the soft suspension does not control the tilt of the body when driving at higher speeds or cornering.

The diesel engine is quite noisy, but it is only felt at higher speeds during acceleration. The big surprise is the quiet and smooth operation you have with the three-cylinder 1.2 petrol engine. Wind noise is noticeable when driving on the highway, and also from the suspension when going over sudden changes in the pavement. The price of the Polo is somewhat high, but the resale values are too.

With four diesel engines and a frugal 1.2 petrol engine to choose from, gas saving statistics for Volkswagen Polo are great. Management through control switches and buttons is very good, and the Polo offers all the amenities expected of the VW brand.

VW Polo comes with front airbags and an anti-lock braking system as standard. Side and curtain airbags are extra options, and cruise control does not appear on all models. All models have two options for regulating the wheel position, but not all of them have control over the height of the seat .

There is plenty of space for the driver and front passenger, and forward visibility is also reasonable. All control elements and tools are easy to use. The Polo can comfortably accommodate four adults, though many rivals offer considerably more extra space in the cabin that the Polo has to offer.

The list of equipment of the Volkswagen Polo is better than most of its competitors. Standard E models have a CD player, S models have air conditioning, alloy wheels and electric front windows, and SE adds remote central locking and height adjustment of the driver's seat. Sport models feature a lower suspension and fog lights (halogen).

2005 Volkswagen Jetta

16/11/2011

The new Volkswagen Jetta went into production in 2005. The car is powered by the same engines as the VW Golf, with the exception of the 1.4-liter petrol model and low power diesel engine. The bestselling modification to date is the 2.0-liter turbo diesel, delivering 140 horsepower overall.

The new Volkswagen Jetta can keep itself controlled, even at its highest speeds, and is quite a bit larger than the Golf. VW's are known for being very reliable and trouble-free cars. The construction quality of the Jetta is one of the best in this class compared to other cars of similar price.  The driver's seat and steering wheel of the car can be easily configured in a comfortable position for the driver.

The Jetta has a larger cabin than the Golf, more head and shoulder room for front seat passengers. Two large adults can sleep comfortably in the rear seats, and the boot is huge for this class. Six airbags and an anti-lock brake system with stability control are standard in the Volkswagen Jetta.

Every Volkswagen Jetta comes with electric windows, CD-player and remote locking. The S-modification adds air conditioning, while the SE has cruise control, alloy wheels and other goodies, such as automatic lights and wipers.
