Volkswagen introduced the new Golf Cabriolet at the 2011 Geneva International Motor Show. Now, a year later at the same place, the top version of the bestseller makes its worldwide debut: the first GTI Cabriolet in the history of Golf! A four-seater GTI with 208 horsepower, making it the most powerful Golf Cabriolet ever. GTI not only means more power, but also sporty exterior, interior and precisely tuned chassis.

The first models of the Golf GTI Cabriolet will be delivered officially this summer. At launch, customers can choose between a 6-speed manual gearbox or 6-speed DSG dual clutch gearbox. Both transmissions send power to a turbo petrol engine with direct injection off the front axle. At 1700 rpm, the engine develops a maximum torque of 280 Nm, which remains constant up to 5,300 rpm - its torque curve is ideally plateaued.

To convert engine power into an incredible driving force, the convertible is equipped not only with electronic differential lock (EDS) in their system, the GTI Cabriolet also has XDS transverse differential lock as standard. Even at full acceleration on bends, the system XDS - is also integrated in the ESP - providing optimum traction and stability when driving. Golf GTI Cabriolet accelerates to 100 km / h within 7.3 seconds in both versions of the gearbox.

The maximum speed models is 237 km / h and 235 km / h for DSG. This contrasts with a combined fuel consumption of just 7.6 liters per 100 km, equating to CO2 emissions of 177 g / km (7.7 liters per 100 km and 180 g / km CO2 for DSG). An even better argument for the GTI among convertibles is that the 2.0-liter sixteen-valve, four-cylinder engine is ideal because of its high torque. Even while driving at high speed with low gear, Golf GTI Cabriolet still reserve torque for acceleration.

The GTI front bumper with larger air intake screen fitted on her typical vertically stacked fog lamps. The car has a new rear diffuser and chrome tailpipes on the left and right hand under the rear bumper. Like the GTI a permanent hardtop, this GTI also has a dark-red LED tail lights, LED number plate lights and extensions of thresholds. Classic GTI wheels are standard with 17-inch alloy wheels with tires mounted on them 225/45 R17.

18-inch alloy wheels for can be ordered optionally for the Golf GTI Cabriolet - known as the "Detroit", with a tire size of 225/40 R18. The front sports seats are upholstered in a classic plaid "Jackie" and leather seats "Vienna" are available as an option. The car has a stainless steel pedals and unique polo GTI gearshift lever in aluminum.

All these features are typical GTI. The decorative trim on the doors of perfect specific accents. Sliding roof is hydraulically controlled electronically and takes only 9.5 seconds to open and 11 seconds to close. Opening the roof is possible while driving at speeds up to 30 km / h. Golf GTI Cabriolet also displays the highest quality and safety attributes.
