Not Original Or Genuine Auto Parts

Find a Part/s

Each owner of a car is faced with a choice of spare parts, non-genuine (pirate) or original, to select for repairs or maintenance.

You will find many arguments in favor of both the new and second hand parts. When supporting original parts, think of methods to preserve the full functionality of the car when replacing spare parts with original ones. People who are willing to make compromises when selecting spare parts also use many arguments, the most crucial of which is that the price of an original spare parts is quite high due to the brand name alone. Many car owners are unwilling to pay a high price given that the market has many manufacturers of spare parts with similar characteristics.

The truth however is in somewhere the middle. Now take a look at advantages and disadvantages of the two options:

Genuine spare parts: The units and parts are similar to those placed in the production line by the vehicle manufacturer. They must have factory markings and the producer unique serial number.

The main advantages are:

  • Workmanship and quality of the spare parts meet all the requirements and guarantees from the manufacturer of the car.

  • A wide assortment of online parts that one hundred percent satisfy any need for maintenance and repair.

  • The use of original spares by a certified mechanic will not negate any warranties or guarantees carried by the vehicle manufacturer.

  • The spare part is guaranteed to be made of the correct quality materials as certified by the vehicle manufacturer.

  • The safety of the vehicle is guaranteed due to the workmanship and quality of materials used in the manufacture of the spare part.

Disadvantages of original spare parts:

  • The high price. Branded spare parts are on average nearly 50 percent higher than the price of non-branded spare parts that may even have been made in the same factory.

  • Delivery time. If the parts are not in stock it can take weeks for an ordered part to arrive from the original part supplier.

  • Often the brander spare parts are manufactured by an outsourced company, which also supplied the after market with unbranded spare parts, so you might be baying simply for the logo on the box of the supplied spare part.
