Choosing the right parts for your car

Find a Part/s

To make sure that you select the proper auto parts for your car, you should be familiar with the specifications of your vehicle. This means that you need to know the following information about your car, SUV, van, truck or motorcycle.

Important: Please pay really close attention to what is written below, as we believe it will be helpful and can be used to search our online database for parts at findspares.co.za

And now the most important thing you need to know when choosing parts for your car.

The brand of the vehicle, e.g., Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Opel, Renault and others.

The model of the car.

Manufacturing year.

The number and type of cylinders in the engine.

What kind of transmission is in the vehicle, for example,  an automatic or a manual gearbox.

Engine size: When the piston is at its lowest point, how much space is left in each cylinder? The longer the time of displacement, the more fuel and air cylinders are able to keep. New car engines are listed in litres, such as 1.5, 1.8, 1.9, 2.0, 2.3 or 5.9, etc.,  or in cubic centimetres like 1600, 2000, 2200, 3000, 3800, etc. Older cars, on the other hand, are listed in cubic inches such as 302, 320, 454 and so on.

The fuel system: First you need to determine whether the engine is fuel injected, or has a carburettor. If the engine of your car is fuel injection, your car will have a multi-port injection throttle. If the vehicle has a carburettor, you must determine how many barrels there are- one barrel, two barrel or four barrel engine.

The presence of air: Most modern cars now have air conditioning or climate control. When ordering parts online, you must take this into account.

It is important to know where to find relevant information about your vehicle. Most modern cars are adorned with metal tags or decals under the hood with printed information about the vehicle. In most cars, you can find this information on stickers which are usually placed in front of the engine compartment, in front of the radiator, inside the fender or inside of the lid. These ID tags will give you accurate information about where the vehicle is produced, type of paint and so on.

Knowing the relevant information about your car will not only ensure that you get the right parts, but it will help you take good care of your vehicle.
