Tata Motors Limited is a multinational automotive corporation headquartered in Mumbai - India. It was established in 1945, the company began manufacturing locomotives. Tata Motors was designed and manufactured its first commercial vehicle in 1954 in collaboration with Daimler-Benz AG.

Despite of the success of commercial vehicles Tata began to diversify and look for other products. After years of dominating the commercial vehicle market in India, Tata Motors entered the passenger car production in 1991 with the launch of Tata Sierra. Should produce Tata Estate in 1992, Tata Sumo LCV in 1994 and Tata Safari in early 1998.

Based on consumer demand for the brand decided to produce a small and compact car. Thus, in the same 1998, launched Tata Indica, the first fully indigenous passenger car of India. Designed to be inexpensive and easy to maintain, Indica became a hit in the Indian market. Tata Indica is also marketed in Europe, particularly in Britain and Italy.

Presently, the company is the fourth largest world producer of trucks and the second largest worldwide producer of buses, which employs about 24,000 workers, with consolidated revenues of twenty billion dollars in 2009-10. From 1954 onwards, Tata Motors produced and sold over four million vehicles in India. It is listed on the both Bombay stock exchange, and New York stock exchange. In 2010, Tata Motors surpassed Reliance and won the prestigious title as the most valuable brand in India.
