Suzuki Motor Corporation is a national corporation headquartered in Hamamatsu - Japan. In 1909, Michio Suzuki lived from 1887 to 1982, founded the Suzuki Loom. In the beginning, Suzuki produced the looms. Despite success in the production and sales of looms, Suzuki decided to develop in other directions, to meet consumer demand. So in 1937, they released their first several drafts of compact cars. Then Suzuki vehicles were powered by four stroke, four cylinder water-cooled engines. The brand specializes in the manufacturing of motorcycles, cars, 4x4 vehicles, ATVs, marine engines, wheelchairs and a range of other small IC engines.

In 1952, Suzuki started manufacturing motorcycles. The first models were motorized bicycles. By 1954, Suzuki 6000 motorcycle produced per month. At that time, the company group officially changed its name to Suzuki Motor Corporation. Following the success of its 1st motorcycles, Suzuki produced an even more successful car brand, model Suzulight in 1955, demonstrated their propensity for innovation from the beginning.

Also, in the years 50's, 60's and most of the 70s, the company produced motorcycles with two-stroke engines. In the 80s, Suzuki begins exporting to America. Through an agreement with General Motors, Suzuki Cultus model sold in the United States as the Chevrolet Sprint in 1985.

In 2000, Maruti Alto was introduced, due to launch of Tata’s Indica and Hyundai’s Santro had affected Maruti's market sales but Alto helped steady the company's position as the auto leader in India. Maruti is currently the largest selling car in India, this includes Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, introduced in 2003, Maruti Versa, introduced in 2004, Maruti Suzuki Swift, introduced in 2005, Maruti Zen Estilo and Maruti Suzuki SX4, introduced in 2007.

Presently, Suzuki is the fourth largest automaker in Japan after Toyota, Honda, Nissan and the 9th largest automobile manufacturer in the world. In Suzuki employs over 45,000 people, has 35 main production facilities in 23 countries and 133 distributors in 192 countries. Suzuki is the second largest in Japan, a manufacturer of small cars and trucks.
