Automobile Dacia S.A. is a Romanian automobile manufacturer, named for the historic region which represents current Romania. Dacia is now a subsidiary of the French carmaker Renault and it exporter from Romania with 10% of total exports. It was founded in 1966 under the brand name of Uzina de Autoturisme Pitești (UAP). For four years from 1968 to 1972 produced about 44,000 cars. Model 1100S has a more powerful engine, produced in limited quantities used by the Romanian police and participated in some motor racing.
