Acura is the luxury car division of Honda Motor Company which was founded in1986, thus becoming the first Japanese premium car automaker in overseas. It was introduced to Hong Kong, Canada and the USA in 1991, Mexico in 2004, and China in 2006. After decades of research in the automotive industry, 60 new outlets opened across North America in support of the Acura.

The first US offering from Acura established a success. These were the Legend with a V-6 powered sedan, and the Integra available in both five-door and three-hatchback option. The success of these two models, especially Legend, becomes competitive in sales of Japanese companies for luxury brands such as Toyota’s Lexus and Nissan’s Infiniti. In 1987, Acura sold 109,000 cars. By 1990, Acura sold 138,000 vehicles compared to Mercedes-Benz, where sales were 78,000 cars and 64,000 for BMW and Lexus.

In 1991, Part of Acura’s success after the debut of the Legend and Integra, Acura launched sports car NSX (New Sports eXperimental) with rear-wheel drive and powered midship V6 engine. Same time first Japanese car was capable of competing with Ferrari and Porsche. In the mid-to-late 1990s, acura sales suffered due to less inspiring designs. Beginning of 2000, Acura experienced a revival with the launch of redesigned car models. The first model was the Acura TL 3.2, which is an upscale Luxury sedan likes with Infiniti I30, Lexus ES I BMW 3-series

In 2006, Acura offered a small SUV  with RDX powered by 4-cylinder turbo engine and 240 hp Completely renovated MDX became available in the fall of 2006 with 300 hp Acura TL Type introduces in 2007. ZDX is the first vehicle designed in a design studio located in Torrance - Southern California.  In 2010 New York Auto Show, the Acura new TSX wagon announced. Acura launched  a new ILX type in 2012, based heavily on the Honda Civic platform.
