Head of diesel engine and spare part

Diesel engine cylinder heads performs several functions. The head of the diesel engine can be structured in two ways.

In one method, each cylinder has its own cast head, which is fastened to the block. This method is mostly used for large diesel engines. In the second method, which is used for smaller diesel engines, the cylinder head is a multi-cylinder engine. Diesel engines have two methods for disposal of exhaust gases from the cylinder.

They can use ports or valves, or a combination of both. Ports are slots in the walls of the cylinder located at the bottom. The piston moves below the open ports and the fresh air or exhaust gases are able to enter or leave, depending on the type of gate. Ports are closed when the piston moves above the level of the mechanical valves.

The valves are located in the cylinder head. The head and the engine block must be well sealed by a head gasket. Inside the head, there are channels through which coolant can control the operating temperature of the internal combustion engine.
