Types of gearboxes and work in light duty and heavy duty trucks

Whether you are looking for a new or second hand gearbox (transmission) or individual parts for trucks  you will find everything you need at findspares.co.za. We employ hundreds of importers and retailers across the country. Small trucks use the same type of gearboxes which have either automatic transmission or manual transmission with synchronizers.

Bigger trucks often use manual gearboxes (transmissions) without synchronization, saving bulk and weight, although it is desirable to use synchronized transmissions in older vehicles. As already mentioned, heavy-duty trucks have manual transmission, semi or fully automatic gearbox.

In some transmissions, adaptive change process refers to the comparison of the key parameters in the transfer gear transmission which are pre-programmed for ideal operation in different conditions. In the management and control of certain transmissions for trucks, hydraulic automatic adjustments are made  to ensure accuracy when changing gears.

Control the speed and current load of the engine, there are also automatic adjustments necessary to manage the gearbox. These changes are made to improve the operation of the gearbox and the engine of the truck or cargo vehicle. Automatic auxiliary stop for heavy trucks is a great extra for modern trucks.

When a truck is loaded and going down a steep slope, the braking computer detects a heavy load and automatically lowers the gears in the gearbox to use braking power of the engine.

In modern trucks with manual transmissions, they have implemented other systems to reduce speed when driving a steep slope to allow easy replacement of the gear ratio of large to small vehicles.
