In a soft top convertible, fabric or leather on the roof of a convertible is mounted on a metal folding design. The soft roof of a convertible can be folded or expanded by way of a mechanical or electronic engine powered by the electrical system of a vehicle and controlled with an electronic switch.

In the most convertibles, the combustion engine is in the rear. In certain models and brands of convertibles, the roof can be rigid and lightweight is construction. Other than the convertibles having a retractable roof, convertible have always been seen as luxury vehicles that are fun to drive.

Modern versions of convertibles have more horsepower under the hood. Open cars are usually equipped for sports. Most convertibles are breathtaking with their unique style and stand out from other vehicles. Soft-top cars offer different styles.
